Cloud services have become a viable alternative for a company's communication and collaboration platform over the last few years. This session will provide views into what Microsoft Office 365 brings to the Software as a Service (SaaS) space, why other customers have gone online and what it takes to get online. The session will be a mix of service basics best practices and intelligence from real-world experiences.
A mature enterprise cloud strategy is not limited to a single dimension of cloud computing like PaaS or private clouds, but instead encapsulates all elements of cloud computing into a Whole Cloud strategy. In this presentation, George Reese, author of "Cloud Application Architectures", discusses the components of a Whole Cloud strategy, how an enterprise can successfully develop an understanding of what the Whole Cloud is for their organization, and the role of Microsoft technologies in a Whole Cloud strategy. Topics covered include: private cloud, public cloud, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and cloud management.
Today's C-Level executive must be more than a functional head. A successful executive must be a business leader who can help transform the enterprise by driving business value. Many senior executives have had a great deal of training and experience in their areas of functional responsibility. Many are knowledgeable about their companies’ products and services and the markets they compete in. However, many of them struggle with the “human dynamics” required to drive transformational change. This session will focus on the critical components of leadership such as: getting people to embrace and align around a common vision; driving tangible business value; leading major change management initiatives; developing effective communication skills; marketing the value of IT; relationship Management; developing human capital; partnering for success; developing common qualities of great leaders; building sustainable success.
The term "private cloud" is becoming ubiquitous in the IT arena and industry magazines. This session walks you through the essentials, showing you what the industry trends are in the private cloud and how this new addition to your solution arsenal is the next logical step to transition from virtualization into cloud computing. A private cloud represents significant opportunities for IT pros to modernize and convert what has been deployed, as well as establish a strategic baseline for the next generation computing environment. Knowledge of private clouds is an absolute must for anyone working in IT going forward. This session gets you started on your journey to cloud success. You will learn the components of a private cloud, learn how the private cloud architecture fits into your IT infrastructure, and see a live demo of private cloud environments.
The future of global business is cloud computing; a natural composite of your data and computing systems in group form. The Windows Azure Platform is at the forefront of the purest cloud form, platform-as-a-service (PaaS). This session will dissect the changing shape of business as it relates to Azure. We will also examine the business value of real-world implementations and how they were achieved from a technical standpoint.
Many organizations skipped Windows Vista and addressed their entire application inventory for the first time in a long while when moving to Windows 7. Forward looking companies are considering the future; both virtual desktops and the cloud and preparing their application portfolios for these more dynamic environments. This session will focus on using Microsoft App-V as a way to isolate user applications from the operating system and each other, and Microsoft Server App-V as a way to isolate middle tier applications from the OS for fast deployment for peak loading in the cloud. Once prepared for delivery via App-V, these applications may be easily deployed whenever and where-ever you need them in the future.
Windows Azure, as an application hosting platform, must provide confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data. It must also provide transparent accountability to allow customers and their agents to track administration of services, by themselves and by Microsoft. This presentation describes the array of security controls implemented within Windows Azure.
SharePoint Online is much more than a great place to store documents. For enterprises it represents a platform to engage stakeholders outside the 4 walls of the corporate office. External access combined with Excel Web Services and web services means deeper integration with business partners critical to the business process and value chain.
With so many devices and so many decisions on which strategy is the right one for you, businesses have a challenge making sense of the Cloud, Virtualization, Consumerization of IT and Bring your own IT, with each option bringing with it pros and cons. In this session we will discuss how to create an endpoint strategy that will embrace technology while keeping business assets safe and secure.
This session is for technical decision makers who are either new to Windows Azure or have not yet had any exposure to it. Gunther Lenz will be providing an introductory description of Microsoft's cloud platform, Windows Azure. In addition he will explain how Windows azure maps to the cloud continuum of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. He will show the different components Windows Azure provides such as SQL Azure, Storage, Compute, Virtual Networking, Virtual Machines, CDN, Service Bus, and Access Control Services.
High quality, high availability, simple to use and full virtual and physical management at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives. That is what you get with Hyper-V and System Center. In this session, we will look inside Microsoft’s flagship virtualization platform, Hyper-V. We then take a look at the best management stack on the planet to show management of the entire data center. We will show you why this multi-action stack is rapidly taking over the data center. Then stay tuned for a quick update on what’s next!
You face an abundance of IT challenges today, from having to plan for sufficient offsite data protection, to protecting both your physical and virtual environment, disaster recovery planning, and managing your CAPEX budget. Some solutions offer direct-to-cloud backup, but prove challenging when transmitting large volumes of data, and many don’t offer system protection and recovery. However, all industry indicators point to aggressive growth rates in managed services worldwide with storage and backup services consistently ranking in the top 1 or 2 in Industry Expert Surveys for buyer interest, so why and how can you capitalize on this growing trend to address your IT needs? This session will show you how you can address your IT challenges by leveraging the cloud for backup and disaster recovery with CA Technologies - CA ARCserve® D2D on Demand, combining CA ARCserve technology and the Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform to deliver true hybrid data protection.
Cloud computing is really about delivering "IT as a Service" : providing a more agile set of infrastructure and services to your end users, aligning with the business, and driving down costs. Leveraging our experience running large scale global services like Bing, Azure or Office 365, Microsoft Private Cloud solutions based on Hyper-V and System Center can help you achieve IT as a Service “on your terms” in your datacenters, by integrating into existing tools and processes, managing heterogeneous platforms, physical and virtual environments based on multiple hypervisors, and even hybrid cloud applications. This session will introduce the unique value differentiators that Microsoft has when it comes to Private Cloud, and unveil the technology components and their roadmap. The follow up session "Delivering IT as a Service using Microsoft Private Cloud solutions" will focus on demonstrating the products working together to achieve these scenarios.
Mobility is at the forefront of strategic initiatives in the enterprise. Connecting people and information across a growing number of devices and systems can be a complex undertaking. This session will explore how to simplify mobile device management in an environment where bring your own device (BYOD) has become the norm. In this breakout session, we will show you key strategic planning initiatives; how to manage the relationship between the end user and IT; apps governance, data security and privacy best practices; use cases for implementing secure mobile access enterprise-wide and requirements for selecting best of breed MDM and secure file sharing solutions.
This session will provide an end-to-end walkthrough of the end user and IT administrator experience when services and applications are requested, deployed and managed using Hyper-V and System Center 2012. First, you will experience how Microsoft solutions help design, deploy, configure and manage the infrastructure and offerings that make up a Private Cloud solution (provision and create a shared infrastructure, automate service delivery and offering, set-up self-service provisioning, operate and monitor infrastructure). We will then show how a "service" or "application" can be requested, provisioned, monitored by a self-service user, consistently across private and public clouds
SQL Azure is Microsoft's relational storage offering in the cloud. It is essentially a robust subset of SQL Server offered as "database-as-a-service". Anyone who has worked with SQL Server will discover SQL Azure familiar to manage with the same tools and utilities. Gone is the need to worry about clustering, replication, and other mundane DBA chores. However, newer skills will be required to scale through federation, manage data syncing, and handle multi-tenancy. We’ll take a look at what SQL Azure has to offer, including the tools and new web portal.
